Rev Marie Berbick, a Jamaican-born pastor, motivational speaker, and life coach, has recently been honored with the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This accolade, presented on January 21 at the US Presidential & Leadership Awards dinner in Washington, DC, recognizes individuals who have dedicated over 4,000 hours of extraordinary service to their communities. Berbick’s commitment to ministry, mentorship, and women’s empowerment has solidified her reputation as a transformative leader dedicated to changing lives.
A Humble Heart
Upon receiving the award, Berbick expressed her gratitude, stating, “I’m beyond honoured and truly humbled to receive this distinguished award from the president of the United States. I never saw this coming because I do not do what I do for reward. I do it from my heart. I live to transform people’s lives. Now look what the Lord has done!” Her words reflect a deep commitment to her mission, emphasizing that her work is driven by passion rather than recognition.
Early Life and Career
Born in St Ann, Jamaica, Berbick began her professional journey as a journalist, making her mark as one of the youngest reporters at the Jamaica Herald at just 17 years old. Over eight years, she garnered two national journalism awards, including Jamaica’s first-ever award for online journalism in 2008. Her transition into public relations saw her manage a successful PR and communications business, serving the Government of Jamaica and various international organizations.
A New Chapter in the United States
In 2018, Berbick migrated to the United States, where she founded Marie Berbick Ministries International (MBMI) in 2020. Known as “The People’s Pastor,” she has cultivated a devoted online following of nearly 100,000, delivering impactful sermons and engaging teachings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her Saturday morning broadcasts provided solace and hope to many grappling with uncertainty and trauma.
Empowering Women and Youth
Berbick’s commitment to empowerment extends beyond her ministry. She founded Sisters United for Prayer Healing Empowerment & Restoration (SUPHER), a New York-based non-profit organization that began in Jamaica in 2013. SUPHER focuses on empowering women, at-risk youth, and vulnerable communities globally. The organization offers hands-on assistance to women in abusive situations, mentorship, counseling, skills training, and educational support.
Through both MBMI and SUPHER, Berbick has expanded her reach, mentoring women called to ministry and offering programs that uplift the vulnerable. Initiatives like Save a Sista, which helps women escape domestic abuse, and back-to-school drives demonstrate her commitment to community service. Additionally, the Nikolai Graham Primary Exit Profile (PEP) Scholarship, established in 2024, supports a grade six student from a single-income household in Jamaica, ensuring they receive the financial aid needed for high school.

Berbick’s extraordinary dedication to service has not gone unnoticed. She was previously recognized as the Most Influential Motivator of the Year by the Exclusive Entrepreneurs Foundation, an international organization that highlights young achievers. Her service extends to the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council, USA, North East Region, where she has played an advisory role.

With over a decade of experience as a motivational speaker, Berbick has been mentored by renowned speaker Les Brown. She is a certified legendary speaker and a member of the esteemed Les Brown Speaker’s Academy, where she is among the featured speakers recommended by Brown. Her ability to inspire and motivate others is a testament to her passion for service and leadership.
Authoring Change
In addition to her speaking engagements, Berbick is an accomplished author, having written four books, including the Young Believer’s Guide to Effective Prayer and Arise. Her upcoming release, Baptism of Fire, delves into the challenges she faced upon entering ministry and the lessons she has learned, offering guidance to other pastors navigating similar paths.
A Life of Service
Berbick continues to minister actively, recently participating in the Healing Our Women conference in May Pen, Jamaica. She is married to Jamaican international gospel singer Robert Bailey and is a proud mother of three boys.
