This event will honor Reid’s remarkable high school career, during which he averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks per game in his final three seasons.

Coach Hamilton praised Reid for his character, saying, “He was an unbelievable human being. He was courteous, polite; people liked him for who he was, even beyond basketball.”

Reid’s influence extended beyond college basketball. He played a pivotal role in the golden era of Jamaican men’s basketball from 2009 to 2013. His performance at the 2011 Caribbean Championships was crucial for Jamaica’s qualification for the 2012 Centrobasket tournament and the 2013 FIBA Tournament of the Americas. There, Jamaica achieved a historic bronze medal, defeating powerhouse teams like Argentina and Brazil.
Ajani Williams, a former NBA player and president of the Jamaica Basketball Association, reflected on Reid’s contributions: “He literally put us on his back and shoulders. Unquestionably, no Ryan, no FIBA TOA.” His dedication to his homeland was evident, as he proudly represented Jamaica and his birthplace, Portland.
