My husband and I decided to find out for ourselves. We booked a bucket-list suite at Sandals Dunn’s River, which opened its doors in 2023. This resort quickly became a favorite for couples seeking relaxation and adventure.
Arrival and First Impressions
After a 10-hour flight with Virgin Atlantic and a smooth 1.5-hour transfer, we arrived at Sandals Dunn’s River, slightly weary but excited. Our butler, Patrian, greeted us with a warm smile and a dedicated mobile phone for our requests. “No request is too small,” he assured us, setting the tone for our stay.
The Suite: A Slice of Paradise
Our ‘Tufa Terrace One Bedroom Skypool Butler Suite’ was nothing short of spectacular. The open-plan bathroom featured a circular tub and spacious walk-in shower. The room, designed for couples, boasted a super king-sized bed and stunning ocean views.
The highlight? A private balcony with an infinity pool and a soaking tub. We spent countless hours enjoying the view, especially during the early mornings and late afternoons with a glass of bubbly in hand.
Culinary Delights
With 12 restaurants and nine bars, the dining options were almost overwhelming. Breakfast was served buffet-style, featuring made-to-order omelets and fresh fruit. For lunch, we enjoyed casual meals at Galene and Isola, but our favorite was the Jerk Shack, where we savored delicious jerk chicken under swaying palm trees.
Dinner was a culinary adventure, with each restaurant offering unique menus. Our top pick was the charming Italian spot, Cascata, known for its generous pasta portions and friendly staff.
Activities and Entertainment
Sandals Dunn’s River is designed for couples, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. The Art Deco-inspired lobby leads to a lively pool area with live music and activities. For golf enthusiasts, the nearby Upton Estate Golf and Country Club offers complimentary transfers.
The resort’s watersports center was a highlight for us. While I couldn’t dive due to an ear infection, my husband enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking. Our private boat excursion was unforgettable, taking us to secluded beaches and the famous Dunn’s River Falls.
The Butler Service: A Touch of Luxury
Our butlers, Patrian and Oren, were always just a call away. They handled everything from restaurant reservations to delivering snacks to our loungers. Their attentiveness made our stay feel truly special.
At first, we felt a bit awkward about the butler service, but by the end of the week, we embraced the luxury. Coming back to our room to find a rose petal bath was a delightful surprise.
